I am Thankful for...

Having grown up, and for being able to live, on the Central Coast of California. It really is beautiful here, and the weather is very mild compared to othe places in the U.S. I feel very blessed.

I am truly thankful for my clients! With them my small, but thriving, massage therapy practice (for almost twelve years now) could not exist.

I am thankful for my health (knock on wood).

Aside from just getting over a nasty cold, and a slightly high blood pressure, I am basically very healthy.

Its NOVEMBER!

November happens to be National (fill in the blank) Month (for example: Novel Writing, Art Every Day, Blog Posting).

Also, some thoughful person, somewhere on the internet, started the idea of posting something your grateful for everyday until Thanksgiving.

So, in an effort to challenge myself and start blogging more often, I am going to try to, at the very least, post something I am grateful for every day this month until Thanksgiving.

Today: I am so thankful for my family...my husband and my three sons; and my extended family, my parents, siblings, and inlaws.

When I was a little girl I used to get into trouble (just a little) for drawing in church. I would draw on the back of my Sunday School lessons or in a lined notebook my mom would bring. She would take away the pencil and paper if I was getting too noisy with the paper, or if it was completely obvious I wasn't paying attention to the sermon. Keep in mind,this was a very small church and there was no play room or nursery. If I wasn't drawing or coloring, though, I would doze off or suddenly need to use the rest room 10 times in a row.

One Sunday, during a particularly long sermon, I managed to fill three notebook pages full of very detailed butterflies and flowers, fairy princesses in elaborate wedding gowns, and mermaids swimming in the ocean with otters and other sea creatures. After church services were dismissed my parents took me aside and began to scold me for not paying attention. I tried to explain, somewhat unsuccessfully, that I had been paying attention. So they asked me lots of questions about the sermon to test me. To their surprise, I could recall the entire sermon nearly word for word, including the books of the Bible, and the chapters and scriptures that had been used.

The next Sunday I got to bring my entire box of crayons and my very own, brand new, sketch pad!

Lost a Day

All day yesterday I kept thinking it was Saturday, so I posted my Six Word Saturday. Oops. I could delete the post I suppose, but what would be the point?

Seriously, where did Saturday go? Where did this YEAR go?? And WHY are Christmas decorations already out in Wal-Mart???

Fall Friday Football!!

For at least 10 weeks (hopefully more) during the Fall, on Friday nights, I am in the bleachers at some high school on the Central Coast from 3:30pm to 9:30ish.
All 3 of my sons play high school football. Youngest son #3 is on the Junior Varsity team, and older sons #2 & #1 are on Varsity. I love Friday nights in the Fall.

This sketch was inspired by John Salmon. I love his atmospheric landscapes and watching his videos on YouTube.

I tried to keep up with his video, which I think helped me to not over think the process and just have fun.

I Just love these daisies. During spring there was a week or two when there were several pots of these lining the walls in the flower/gift section at the grocery store. It was a very eye catching display, and brightened my day!

Instead of getting really stressed out when scheduled plans go awry or when clients don't show up, I try to use the unexpected extra time as an opportunity to just breathe and go with the flow. Once in a while a nice suprise, like a random late-dinner-out with the the fam, presents itself.
